I’ve had a few of those moments lately. The ones that make you shake your head and think, “Only a mother would think that.”
Last week, I was washing out a plastic bucket of ice cream that we had just polished off. As I was rinsing it out I thought, “This will make a great puke bucket.”
I know. Motherhood is AWESOME.
Then there’s the shredded toilet paper strewn throughout the house.
There’s the smelly foot odor from the son who has had his broken foot in a boot for four weeks.
There’s the 1.2 seconds I can snatch between loads of laundry, snotty noses and antibiotics that I get to read my book.
There’s poopy swim diapers. Those are ten times worse than regular poopy diapers.
And you can’t forget the deflated kiddie pool strung across the front yard. It is currently hanging out with the hose and an old garbage can that was used for water storage by the children.
There’s the sock that is still living on the front patio.
And if that weren’t enough, there’s always the stretch marks on my thighs and belly that scream, “You have children!”
There’s the fact that I’ve seen this particular Scooby-Doo movie three or four times and I know how it ends.
There’s the screaming that comes from my van as I drive along. Cars sitting next to us at lights probably think I’m using a torture device on my three year old.
And then there’s the three hundred pictures I have sitting on my camera that I haven’t dumped to the computer because there’s no room left. And why is there no space left on my hard drive? Because I’ve taken 4 million pictures of the wonderful little people that make me remember every day that I am in fact a mother.
Today I’m joining Arizona Mamma from Our Daze in the Desert!

I think all moms have to sit through the same movies multiple times. With us, she goes through phases of favorites, and won’t watch anything but the current fav. Makes me crazy.

These are great! I can currently relate completely to the sock, kiddie pool, and camera card! (And regrettably, the stretch marks…) Fabulous list!
I love the puke bucket idea! After reading that I thought, “Wow…she’s right!”
I am right there with you on the pictures. I currently have 700 or so on my camera. I know I am a mom when I never actually see a movie but I have heard it enough that I know which part is next!
Happy Wednesday!
Puke buckets are great! Once they learn to use that bucket it’s a large weight lifted off moms isn’t it?
And I love this post!

Aha…the puke bucket. I’m still needing one of those. I don’t want to use my nice mixing bowls!

That’s the best idea for a puke bucket! Only a mom!
I miss having a little one, but I DO not miss dirty swimmie diapers. They’re just wrong! I’ve hosed kids down in the yard many times because of them!
And I know what you mean about the millions of pictures, I had to buy an external harddrive, I had so many. Wonder if anyone will ever look at them? They’ll never mean as much to anyone as they do to us!

That would definitely make a fabulous puke bucket! In fact, I have one filled with icecream in the freezer. I’m so rinsing it out and keeping it for just that! Thanks for the tip. lol And I’m with you on all the others. I’m wearing my badge of motherhood also – stretchmarks. *sigh*
Have a great weekend Stacey.
