They got to eat the gingerbread houses on the same night!?!?!?!?! I've never HEARD of such a thing! =) And, I'm pretty sure that when I took Zoe to the DR last Friday, her DR wanted to chew me out for not taking her there sooner, except I had, and the other DR didn't think she was congested. I wanted to say, "so there!" when I explained that to her, but I refrained. =)

Love this post! Thanks for sharing random thoughts...as a mom of 4, I feel like I can't have coherent, "properly ordered" thoughts anymore, so this post fit right in with how I process things now...I almost didn't even notice your unique "lettering" style for the outline of these random, seemingly unrelated topics. Glad I saw it though, just one more little giggle to go with the rest...

On the infant napping/sleeping thing...I've used a sound machine in the kids rooms for several years now. The "waterfall" feature sounds like the static white noise...a lot cheaper than an iPad, I'm guessing. I adjust the volume depending on the noise level in the rest of the house, does a good job of drowning out other kids downstairs while littlest one is trying to nap...

Hi! I found you on the SITS roll call today and your blog looks great. My twin daughters were 9 months old before they would go into their cribs before we rocked them to sleep and I loved every minute of it. They sleep with radio static every night and for all naps, plus I have three different white noise apps. I also agree that having two parents is great. I can't imagine being a single parent and I give single parents so much credit! Also, I'm keeping that porch/whistling trick in my tool box for when my girls are older. Thanks for the great advice!

It is called Sound Oasis on my Ipad. For the last two days, I have nursed him to sleep at nap time with the app running, then taken him up to his crib and left my Ipad wedged between the mattress and the bars and he has taken 3 hour naps. I kid you not. It runs with the screen off and doesn't eat that much battery. Seriously the best app ever. LOL Oh, the things we will do for some sleep!

WHAT'S THAT APP????? :-) Seriously. We've only ever had a family bed so far. G's never slept in his crib. This is largely because I'm lazy, and he's EBF, so he still feeds a couple of times in the middle of the night. It's so much easier for me to wake gently to his rustle and roll over, give him a quick feed, and we're both back to sleep. However, at some point in the nearish future, he's going to start feeding less in the night, and if we manage to get pregnant again there will be much less room for him in the bed. So I've been trying to think of non CIO ways to start to transition him to his crib. An app sounds like the holy grail...

Gingerbread with dad of course would win them over. And that "dinglefart" term has never been nicely put to use. LOL.

I will most definitely keep that in mind. He does like to try to drive me insane. Good times are ahead, I'm quite sure.
