The phone rings. I have been gone from home for exactly 12 minutes.
That means the kids are probably fighting.
“Hello?” I say.
Beep, beep, beep. Beepbeep.
“Hello? HELLO! You’ve already called me. Stop dialing.”
Beep beep.
“Hello? Mom can hear you. Who is this?”
“Mom?” A teeny voice says.
“Hi Miss E. What are you doing with the phone?” I ask, guessing correctly that she did this by herself.
“Hi Mom. I calling you.”
“I see that. Where’s Mr. A?”
“He’s over there. Mr. M is here too.”
“I know. Did Mr. A help you call me?”
“No, I do it by myself. Daddy isn’t home.”
“I know he isn’t honey. He won’t be home until late.”
“I want to come with you.”
“I know, but you can’t come this time. Mommy needs to go fast.”
“Can I play your Ipad?”
“Sure. But don’t play Mommy’s games, ok?” The last time she deleted Where’s my water? it took me half the day to get back to where I was.
“OK.”
“All right sweetie. I need to go so I can shop fast and come home.”
“Ok. Bye Mom.”
“Bye Miss E.”
I smile as I hang up wondering how in heavens name my two-year-old managed to call me. I think a few strangers may have been lucky enough to receive some hang-up calls. But I think she has better phone skills than my 9 year old.

How cute that she wanted to go with you so much that she called you!

Awwww! How sweet and I know the dread of the phone ringing right after I leave the house!it usually means my youngest is acting up to which I then have to try and discipline over the phone…oh joy!
My boys used to do that when they were younger too. They’d call me and not say anything…like I could just read their minds through the phone!
My son( age 4) and his friend (age 4) called my husband at work last week. When I later asked him the phone number, he said numbers that weren’t even close.

LOL! I love this story. I am quite impressed that she could call you, although as I said yesterday, your children have always been frighteningly smart.
What a sweet story. She’ll be glad you wrote it down.
That is really adorable. My daughter lies to play with my phone.
