I haven’t done a Messy Monday for quite some time. But my sister came to visit last week, saw the mess at the bottom of the stairs and declared, “Whoa! Can you say Messy Monday?” She’s my inspiration this morning! Let me explain a bit. A couple of months ago, I got all excited [...] I have a weakness. Ok, so I have a lot of weaknesses. But my Achilles heel is paper. Any kind of paper sends me right over the edge. The kids bring piles of it home from school. The mail piles up and my piles to file get larger and larger until it’s unbearable. [...] Shoes. How they vex me. It’s mostly the children’s shoes that are driving me bonkers. They still haven’t grasped the concept of “put the shoes in the basket”. So when it’s time to leave, I have no less than two children searching high and low for shoes to wear. One of them is [...] There’s a saying in my house that goes like this, “I don’t know, take it to the basement.” Ahhh, the basement. The place where all random crap goes. The place where things get lost and the cats go potty. But even though the basement is the dumping ground for all the things I [...] It’s been a while since I’ve done a Messy Monday. But after last week, I knew I had to post some pictures and tell a story or two. The other day I went to get out some scissors to cut open an icy-pop and I found this: This drawer is where I [...] I don’t know about you, but despite the pampering, (or lack thereof) there is little cleaning up that occurs. And one thing that I refuse to do on Mother’s Day is clean. So I just leave it alone, knowing it will all still be there tomorrow. And guess what? I was right! I didn’t [...] We are on vacation!! (Yay for being able to schedule posts!) But prior to leaving, packing is required. I must say that packing is one of those times when having a larger than average family is very noticeable. Packing for six kids and two adults is a logistical nightmare. This time, it took me [...] After the longest Sunday in history, I am actually ready and happy for Monday even thought that means lots and lots of work. But after a week of this: There were a lot of things that didn’t get done. The kids were so sick and so high maintenance and then Miss [...] Today’s Messy Monday comes to you from the kitchen. I have mostly considered cooking and baking to be a necessary evil. It’s not something I enjoy and I contribute that entirely to the fact that I’ve been cooking one-handed, or with a toddler attached to my leg for the last ten years. But once [...] Messy Monday It may be surprising, but from time to time I struggle to think of a new mess to share. Shocking. I know. Today, I finally thought of my kitchen cupboards. My children have to help unload the dishwasher almost daily. As a result, my cupboards often turn out like this: [...]  |
